Meet Maureen

Maureen has spent her career and personal development rooted in public service. From working in government and volunteering at nonprofits, she has always been committed to uplifting her community.

She reluctantly began practicing yoga in 2015, after a recommendation from her physical therapist as she was healing from an injury sustained while kickboxing. After attending her first yoga class, she immediately felt a calm and serenity she had never experienced and began taking classes almost daily.

Recognizing that building mental and physical strength could be a conduit for healing through movement, she decided to deepen her practice. Maureen completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training at YogaWorks Midtown in Baltimore in September 2017. In October 2017, she completed the trauma-sensitive YogaFit for Warriors Intensive workshop with YogaFit Training Systems.  She has also completed a 20-hour Yin Yoga Immersion program. In November of 2017, she began teaching yoga at SoldierFit in Columbia until February of 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

Professionally, Maureen serves as Howard County’s Director of Government Affairs and is currently working towards her MBA at Johns Hopkins University Carey School of Business. When she’s not at work, school, or volunteering, you can find Maureen on the sidelines of her teenager’s soccer games, in her garden, on her Peloton, and of course, on her yoga mat. Join her.
